Welcome to my Sims 2 Blog!

This blog is to keep track of all my Sims 2 (TS2) stuffeths. I mostly "build" - houses, apartments, recreational, and community lots - but, I also create walls (and murals), floors, terrain paint, and various other recolors. And I've written a few tutorials too. 😁

All of my items are available through Mod the Sims - MTS2: CatherineTCJD.

Most of my stuff is also posted on Tumblr: A Peacock's Tale.

And I'm slowly adding things to Simblr: CatherineTCJD.

I also have an archive of everything I have made on SFS: CatherineTCJD.

Thank you for visiting!

Simple Rectangle - Modern Box: Plan #520-4

Cross-posted to MTS and Simblr.

Simple Rectangle
Modern Box: Plan #520-4, by Irish architect Frank McGahon
This floor plan comes from HousePlans.com
3 bedrooms - 2.5 bathrooms - space for 2 cars
balconies - rooftop viewing deck - built on an extreme slope
You will need my Max Slope Mod
fully furnished
- No CC -

The website says...
"Plan 520-4, by Irish architect Frank McGahon, is a simple rectangle with solid end walls and all glass side walls. The great appeal of the window wall is to unite inside and outside while framing both. The trick is to beware of exposure; even insulated glass can transmit heat and cold. The roof can be adapted as a deck. This 1705 square feet contemporary style 1 bedroom, 1 bath design recalls Philip Johnson's famous Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut of 1949."

I have modified it for TS2 to have 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

Desert Nomad House ~ RL Tucson, AZ. No CC.

Desert Nomad House
from Tucson, AZ - real life architect Studio Rick Joy
This floor plan comes from Amazing Architecture
1 bedrooms - 1+ bathrooms - space for 2 cars
BBQ patio - office - garden
2-Step Foundation
fully furnished
- No CC -

The website says...
"The volumes that contain each separate zone have a single aperture from which each sun-lighting event can be enjoyed. Each of the volumes is slightly elevated and independent from the others, requiring a desert walk on footpaths to move between them. These paths connect visitors to the land and reinforce the house’s purposeful isolation. Our desire to care for the site’s fragile nature prompted the elevation of the volumes, allowing water and animals to move freely beneath them. This way, the landscape of eons ago remains as undisturbed as possible despite this strong visual intervention."😉

Quote:
Richard Pollman was born in Kansas in 1914. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1936, with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. From the late 1950s to the 1970s, Mr. Pollman, with his partner, Irving Palmquist, did much to popularize the mid-century modern house design. They are credited with over 2500 mid-century modern house plans which were published in a series of popular home plan books by Home Planners, Inc. of Detroit, for which Mr. Pollman served as the president. - from the web

I love Thai food - and the country's culture; but I don't have an ounce of Thai blood in me. I also appreciate fine architecture, which is what drew me to this floor plan. I believe the plan was designed by BodinChapa Architects.

Pfft! Forget the above... turns out it is a Russian design. (Thank you Vic!)

Modern Sloped Roof Tutorial House - 2B/2.5B/Driveway - 2CC

Modern Sloped Roof
from my Sloped Roof Tutorial
2 bedrooms - 2.5 bathrooms - 2-car driveway
dramatic design - high energy efficiency - skylit loft
Grid Adjusted

Modern PLAN 497-36 ~ 4Bed/3.5Bath/Driveway. Only 1 CC!

Cross posted to MTS and Simblr.

Modern
PLAN 497-36 from Builderhouseplans.com
4 bedrooms - 3.5 bathrooms - 2-car driveway
modern design - high energy efficiency - elemental simplicity
Grid Adjusted foundation
UNfurnished
~~~ 1 CC = HL's Maxis Match Floor Edge (fence) ~~~
The brochure says:
This design embraces high energy efficiency and modern simplicity. The house shape, location of windows and use of exterior window shading make this design optimal for southern exposure and passive solar heat gains in the cold winter months. The simplicity of its form and use of modern cladding materials such as fiber cement panels allows this design to integrate well with a variety of lot conditions. As with many modern homes, this house plan is very open. Upon entry, you will encounter a large common room. A large guest bedroom is on the first floor. The large sliders out to the deck provide a bridge between indoor and outdoor space. The use of materials in the kitchen such as glass tile backsplash, flush veneer cabinets, composite white countertops and stainless steel appliances provides a clean modern look. The open theme continues upstairs with a multi use open room. This area makes a great space for a home office or child’s play room. There are three bedrooms upstairs, two baths and a laundry closet.
I built this last week while Hurricane Milton was sitting in the Gulf gathering power, before he barrelled right over the top of us. The eye of the storm crossed over our roof around 2am - it was eerily quiet... then the howling wind started up again after 3am - with a vengeance!
Thankfully my family and our house made it through with only very minor damage. (We lost our Papaya tree.)
Others in our area, and across the state, were not so fortunate. I have several friends in North Carolina, who are still without power from Helene blasting through there last week... If you are in a position to donate to relief efforts, please do!
1st Church of Sameville
...a part of the Sameville Hood Project
a community lot
park-like grounds - church - bathrooms - lecture podium - grand piano
One CC - my invisible floor
The funky "roof" design of this building is inspired by a RL Lutheran church.
There really isn't much to do here on this lot; it is more of a "set-dressing" build...
A copy of it will be included with my Sameville hood, when it is released... soon!
Meanwhile - here is a solo version for you to place in your hood.
