Welcome to my Sims 2 Blog!

This blog is to keep track of all my Sims 2 (TS2) stuffeths. I mostly "build" - houses, apartments, recreational, and community lots - but, I also create walls (and murals), floors, terrain paint, and various other recolors. And I've written a few tutorials too. 😁

All of my items are available through Mod the Sims - MTS2: CatherineTCJD.

Most of my stuff is also posted on Tumblr: A Peacock's Tale.

And I'm slowly adding things to Simblr: CatherineTCJD.

I also have an archive of everything I have made on SFS: CatherineTCJD.

Thank you for visiting!

Cape Romano Dome House ~ a Real Life, now Lost, Beach House

Cross-posted to MTS and Simblr.

Cape Romano Dome House
A real life house on Florida's Southern Gulf Coast, from 1982 - 2022
This is a BEACH Lot
3 bedrooms - 2.5 bathrooms - 2 car driveway
one-of-a-kind design - grill porch - hot tub
...and it is pet-ready!
fully furnished
Minimal CC (3 pieces - all from tBudgett, on MTS)

There is a lot of information on-line about this house. My research was fascinating!
Good places to start, if you want to learn more is: the Wiki and Dwell magazine.

To sum up: The structure was made up of six parts (or domes) which were connected to each other and measured 2,400-square-feet. Similar to traditional homes, Cape Romano had three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a den, and a sun-room. The dome design was purposeful so that there were no corners which allowed for an open space with floor-to-ceiling windows that gave the impression of more space. Built on pillars, the house had a level of safety from the storms and following surges. The pillars also gave the house a wonderfully shaded outdoor space.
The dome’s design made the home more resistant to hurricanes; it withstood three major hurricanes since it was built, and remained livable. The first hurricane to come through was Hurricane Andrew in 1992 - the domes’ walls and structure did not suffer substantial destruction but the windows blew out causing severe interior damage. After several other major storms, the beach and sand erosion destabilized the foundation.
It is now completely gone.
Please follow the links above and go read more about this fascinating house!

Please enjoy touring the rest of this design by scrolling through all the pictures.

I intentionally keep my builds lightly furnished - with only EAxis stuffeths - so that you can have all the fun of decorating it! (Please CC-it-up once you get it in your game!) All appliances, plumbing and lighting are included; along with smoke and burglar alarms, and telephones.

This is a clean copy of this house/lot; no sim has ever lived here.
The lot was cleaned and compressed with Chris Hatch's Lot Compressor.
The package was cleaned with Mootilda's Clean Installer.
This lot has an easily identifiable custom thumbnail too.

The sun is NOT oriented to the front - because it was built on Desiderata Valley's coastline. This lot will only place properly in-game on Desiderata's coast. Hopefully it will place in your Custom Beach Hood.

There is parking for two vehicles on the long driveway.

This is a pet-ready build. Items are already included for a dog: food bowl, pet bed, and several bones.
NOTE: There is NO bathtub. You will need to get an outdoor CC tub to bathe your doggies.

TIP: If, when you first enter the lot, arches/doorways are not "cut through" - save, exit to the hood, and re-enter. Fixed!

Definitely used but NOT included:
Get this item if you want the house to look exactly as shown in the pictures.
