Welcome to my Sims 2 Blog!

This blog is to keep track of all my Sims 2 (TS2) stuffeths. I mostly "build" - houses, apartments, recreational, and community lots - but, I also create walls (and murals), floors, terrain paint, and various other recolors. And I've written a few tutorials too. 😁

All of my items are available through Mod the Sims - MTS2: CatherineTCJD.

Most of my stuff is also posted on Tumblr: A Peacock's Tale.

And I'm slowly adding things to Simblr: CatherineTCJD.

I also have an archive of everything I have made on SFS: CatherineTCJD.

Thank you for visiting!

SUD Housing Project ~ low rent apartments for 1 - 4 sims. Minimal CC.

Originally uploaded to MTS on August 20th, 2018.

These apartments were built for Gummilutt's Apartment Mania contest, back in 2018.

It is 'project' housing - offering 7 low-rent units for singles and small families. It is not fancy, but it is new, and clean. I included a lot of 'skilling' items in the common areas. I hope your sims will enjoy living here.

These apartments were built for Gummilutt's Apartment Mania contest. I was one of the Judges. And let me tell you, that's a very difficult job! There were some absolutely amazing builders competing! After judging round #2 - the "cheap living" round - I was inspired to try my hand at building a low-cost apartment. It's not as easy as one would expect - to make a livable place for 2 roommates, with enough space to maneuver without too many stompies, and yet be something close to what we'd expect to see in Real Life - all for less than $1000 rent. I wanted to do it CC free, but I couldn't get the rent low enough with the in-game stairs - so Marvine's ladder is included. Well that, and I really wanted a "loft". I suppose if I threw out the loft idea, a single story would have been cheaper. But, I wanted a loft, dagnabbit!
So, anyway, here you go...

Please scroll down through all the pictures to see everything this lot has to offer.

There are 7 apartment units - 4 units are designed for singles/roommates at around $949 in rent, and 3 units are built for families of up to four sims at around $1700 in rent.

There are a LOT of amenities included on the lot - even cars, if you place them.
NOTE: Cars do not come with the lot, you will have to visit the property before anyone moves in and add them yourself.

All common area items (including the cars) are available for any sim to use. And I must say - the pool and poker tables are always busy! The landlord loves the picnic area for his pizza parties, and my test sims, Jodie and Jason Larson, got a lot of use out of the computers in the laundry/game room.

FYI - Jodie has moved out... She got married. Yup! She is now Mrs. Jodie Landgraab! Malcolm was jogging by one day and caught her eye. Money is no longer a worry for her, the warehouse has been snatched and renovations are under way. Soon she'll be Dr. Jodie Landgraab, in private practice.

This is a clean copy if the lot - no Sim has set foot in it. The package has been cleaned with both Mootilda's Clean Installer and Chris Hatch's Lot Compressor, then double checked with SimPE - it's as squeaky-clean as it gets!

Definitely used but NOT included:
Get these items if you want the house to look exactly as shown in the pictures.
- Some of the wallpaper is from the Lifestyle Build Bundle. (If you followed that link, it's the second link in the top post - extracted from Lifestyle Stories by Argon/MATY) This 'bundle' lives back in my Bins folder so it doesn't have the CC star. If you ever enter one of my builds and find it has blank/unpapered walls/floors, it is because I used ones from this bundle and forgot to mention it. So, either substitute the wall/floor of your choice, or go get this bundle and re-install the lot (from your lot bin.)
- HugeLunatic's Backless tub/shower
- HugeLunatic's 1T Gothic Desk
- SophieDavid's Invisible Driveway
- The Beige/Brown Glass Stair recolor by Numenor/MTS2
- SEP - Slot Enable Package by Numenor/MTS2 - which allows nukers and other things to work on corner counters.
- You will also need: Anoeska's MMF AL Spiral Stairs in your game. These are mirrored versions of the Maxis Spiral stairs, and they include a change which allows sims to walk under all the spiral stairs - which is necessary to access things on the downstairs areas. (NOTE: in future builds I will be using Nopke's Go Under Spiral Stairs mod. But it wasn't released until after I had already packaged this lot.)

I must mention the booth style dining tables in the family units - they are quite fiddly! *grrrrr* Feel free to replace them with a regular table/chairs.

How to rent a Furnished Apartment:
- Bring up the cheat box with CTRL-SHIFT-C.
- Enter the following cheat: boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true
- Walk your sim to the front door of the apartment that you want to rent. They need to be standing right in front of the door.
- Clear any actions from your sim's queue - including other sims trying to talk to them.
- SHIFT-click on the door of the apartment you wish to rent and choose "Rent Furnished."
- If the action falls out of your queue, your sim probably needs to be closer to the door.
- Once the apartment is rented, bring up the cheat box again.
- Enter: boolProp testingCheatsEnabled false to turn the cheat off again.
