Grid-Adjusting for a Slope: Tutorial
You will need Moo's Grid-Adjuster
and possibly her Lot-Adjuster
my Completely Invisible Floor tile
and Numenor's Unlevel Wall #90
The last 3 are optional - the Grid-Adjuster is a must!
I was asked how to build this house forTS2.
I was intrigued! It looked like a really fun house to build - but I didn't ask for permission, and there are several things about the design that I wanted to change to adapt it for TS2 while keeping it as CC-Free as possible. So, my house is inspired by, and not a copy of, Cillas' house.
Step 1: Lot Adjusting (Optional)
I chose a 4X4 lot so I'd have lots of room to build the shell, and then I Lot-Adjusted down to size. I will be putting this in a Modern Hood which will not have a lot of space between builds, so I made it kinda tight on the lot. Remember this tutorial is meant to be a guide - if you want more space, by all means, make it so!
Here is my Lot-Adjusted shell:
Step 2: Grid-Adjusting for level heights
I gave it a 2-Step Foundation. So here is the setting for Level 1 to 2-clicks.
Which means also setting level 2 to 18-clicks. (2+16=18)
And level 3 (the ceiling of the top floor) to 34-clicks. (2+16+16=34)
To create the bumped up flat-roof bit, I put the 4th level to 38-clicks.
Then check it in game:
All the levels look good.
BTW - You want to do ALL this before adding windows, doors, stairs, etc. Because anything you add, beyond the building shell, will "float" until you grab it and reset it in place.
Next we tackle the slope...
I always recommend sticking a current "good" copy of the lot in your LotBin, in case you mess up when using the Adjusters. I'm glad I listened to myself!
Here's what I did in the Grid-Adjuster:
...and Oopsie-daisy!
Two things: (1) I forgot about the second level's need to slope too, and(2) I told it to slope down to 0-clicks, instead of to the 2-Step foundation I gave it. Duh!
So, I bulldozed the lot and replaced it with the "Good" version in my LotBin...
You won't do that though, 'cuz your following this tutorial - right? 😉
Step 3: Grid-Adjusting for the front room's slope
Count out the area that will be sloped before closing your game.
On my lot, that area is...
For Level 3
Front-to-Back = 15 - 23 (remember to start counting from across the road in front.)
Left-to-Right = 9 - 14
And I want the slope to go from 34-clicks down to 2-clicks
With the slopes direction going from Back to Front - so no need to rotate the direction. *Whew! 'Cuz That gets confusing!* 💫
For Level 2
Front-to-Back = 15 - 19
Left-to-Right = 9 - 14
And I want this slope to go from 18-clicks down to 2-clicks
Cross your fingers, and check it in game: 🤞
Bingo!
Now - there are a few "Fixes" you can do... like using my Invisi-floor under the rest of the sloped roof, which will get rid of the "broken triangles." And you can fix the slanted wall bits with Numenor's Unlevel Wall #90 - just drag the wall to erase and replace.
With those fixes in place, it looks like this:
And now I can go finish building and decorating this house!
Not done yet... but, so far, it looks like this now:
A few caveats for this house...
The living room under the sloped ceiling will most likely NOT be weatherproof. Snow will accumulate on your furniture.
And large dogs will need Simler90's StairMods to be able to access the 2-Step foundation.
I will be posting this house for DOWNLOAD once it is completed.
Thanks!🦚Please send me an "Ask" if you have any questions.
