Welcome to my Sims 2 Blog!

This blog is to keep track of all my Sims 2 (TS2) stuffeths. I mostly "build" - houses, apartments, recreational, and community lots - but, I also create walls (and murals), floors, terrain paint, and various other recolors. And I've written a few tutorials too. 😁

All of my items are available through Mod the Sims - MTS2: CatherineTCJD.

Most of my stuff is also posted on Tumblr: A Peacock's Tale.

And I'm slowly adding things to Simblr: CatherineTCJD.

I also have an archive of everything I have made on SFS: CatherineTCJD.

Thank you for visiting!

Experiment 4.2 ~ A Housing Community: 4 Apartments. No CC (10 Year Anniv)

Originally uploaded to MTS on April 22nd, 2021.

Wow!!! I have been building for TS2 for 10 years! I can hardly believe it! 😎
Time really does fly when you are having fun ~ and learning new things. I wanted to give the community something special to celebrate... This build is a culmination of just about everything I have learned these last 10 years. I hope you enjoy it!

Experiment 4.2
a Housing Community - 4 "Apartment" Houses
- down in a gully - under a pyramid dome - each house on a different elevation -

~~~ No CC! ~~~
Each house has:
- a full kitchen - with sink, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, trash chute, and microwave
- a dining area with table/chairs
- a closet or dressers for every bedroom (except in the blue house - which shares a locker by the front door)
- a TV and gaming system
- at least one bookshelf
- desk space for a computer (Blue and Yellow houses include computers)
- Kid's rooms have toyboxes (in Red and Yellow houses)
- a private patio with a grill and dining table
Various extra hobby/fun objects per house:
Blue House - piano, violin, and a hot tub
Red House - piano, chess table, nectar bar, pottery wheel, exercise equipment, boombox, axe-throwing
White House - juice bar, pool table
Yellow House - nursery, easel
Community amenities abound - including: a swimming pool, sports area, playground, windmill farm, solar panels for each house, and more!
Please enjoy touring the rest of this design by scrolling down through all the pictures. The pictures are set up as an official "tour", and takes you through each house and around the grounds of our facility.
Each house is fully furnished, and lightly decorated. All appliances, plumbing and lighting are included. The stoves and grills have smoke alarms. Front doors are burglar alarmed. And telephones are centrally located; the Yellow House has three phones - one on each level.
This is a clean copy of this lot; no sim has ever lived here. The package has been cleaned with Mootilda's Clean Installer.
There is parking for four vehicles on the driveway pieces at the front of the property. Remember, on apartment lots, non-garaged cars are community property - any resident can drive any car.
This is a pet-friendly build. No pet items are included - but there is plenty of space to add them. All bathtubs are accessible for dog washing - except in the Yellow House.
Quirks/suggestions/anomalies/etc...
The Yellow House aesthetically really wants it's stairs swapped out for open-underneath ones.
The Red House has an unusable living chair (by the TV in the living room.)
The Red House is fully decorated because *sigh* technically it is 'broken'. The split landing stairs 'break' the upstairs spaces; things up there are usable, but not moveable/changeable. It can be fixed by swapping out the stairs for the spiral version, or (as I plan to do) have an NPC live there.
The pyramid dome naturally filters out the bad UVA/UVB rays from the sun... but, it can seem a bit dark under the pyramid. Feel free to add more lights to brighten it up a bit - I am planning to add CC/invisible lights to my copy.
Possibly used but NOT included - so, you may need to GO get it:
- I use the Lifestyle Build Bundle wallpapers/floors ALL the time. (Follow the link and it's the second link in the top post - extracted by Argon/MATY) This 'bundle' lives back in my Bins folder so it doesn't have the CC star. If you ever enter one of my builds and find it has blank/unpapered walls/floors, it is because I used ones from this bundle and forgot to mention it. So, either substitute the wall/floor of your choice, or go get this bundle and re-install the lot (from your lot bin.)
- I recommend getting an 'inaccessible plants' mod for all the plants - I suggest Perfect Plants - Perfect Gardens
Thank you, Mootilda for the awesome Grid Adjuster tool, used to make this lot.
There is No Custom Content Included.
How to rent a Furnished Apartment:
- Bring up the cheat box with CTRL-SHIFT-C.
- Enter the following cheat: boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true
- Walk your sim to the front door of the apartment that you want to rent. They need to be standing right in front of the door.
- Clear any actions from your sim's queue - including other sims trying to talk to them.
- SHIFT-click on the door of the apartment you wish to rent and choose "Rent Furnished."
- If the action falls out of your queue, your sim probably needs to be closer to the door.
- Once the apartment is rented, bring up the cheat box again.
- Enter: boolProp testingCheatsEnabled false to turn the cheat off again.
